There’s something so comforting about some of our old childhood classics. The Sandlot proved that a group of friends can literally be your whole life, so long as you put yourself out there. Let’s learn even more about this rad classic.
1. Marty York, who played Yeah-Yeah, would continue on with his career albeit animated. York is the voice of Mickey in Nickelodeon’s Hey Arnold!
2. Two of the cast of The Sandlot would go on to star in D2: The Mighty Ducks, the sequel to The Mighty Ducks. Both Brandon Quintin Adams and Mike Vitar got their jump-off playing baseball and moved straight into hockey!
3. At a certain point during filming, handlers and producers couldn’t place the cast of young men because they had snuck into a rated-R showing of Basic Instinct after shooting ended on that day. I’m sure some choice words were shared that night.

4. While Mike Vitar and Brandon Quintin Adams would star in a hockey film, Patrick Renna and Chauncey Leopardi actually went on to do a soccer film called The Big Green. Come to think of it, there sure were a lot of kids sports films in the 90’s. Huh!
5. The narrator you hear is actually the writer and director of The Sandlot, David Evans.
6. It took only 42 days to film the entire movie. A month and change, guys. You too can make a cult classic!

7. Music clearances are expensive!: Production at 20th Century Fox had to pay for every single time they used a track by The Drifters when Wendy Peffercorn would appear on screen.
8. Benny, played by Mike Vitar would be played by Vitar’s older brother Pablo in the flash-forward scenes.
9. Paint guns were used in the vomit scenes to disperse a mixture of pea soup, oatmeal and a slime-like gel. Pity the poor people who accidentally got nailed with that gross mixture!

10. David Evans, the director, was quick to tell Chauncey Leopardi to keep the kissing strictly PG with zero ‘french’ added to the equation during his scene with Wendy. Thank heavens, because that would’ve taken a silly scene into a super creepy one super fast.
