BUILD: The Silly Gadgets of Batman ’66!

January 31st, 2017 Candice Shane Features, Loot Crate DX

If any of you remember the original Batman show from 1966, you remember the kitschy signs and silly attention to ludicrous detail that went into making that show an absolute spectacle. The severity of story in the comics was left behind and in came an over-the-top experience for comic book fans to see the circus brought to the small screen. Check out some of our favorite little gadgets and signs from the show!

Apparently there were a lot of non-lethal means in order to take care of these very specific oceanic villains… (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

One of the original users of a car phone, Batman wasn’t putting too much stock into using any of those satellites he discussed and making it mobile. (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

“Bat-Memory-Machine” wasn’t remotely punchy enough for what this did, I guess! (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

For when you don’t want people to confuse your Robot Control Device with a fax machine. (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

“I forgot what this does.” – “It tells me where you are.” – “I know, but can you label it for me?” (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

Honestly, it overjoys me when they use ‘Bat’ before everything, even something as simple as a ‘sound analyzer’. (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

“Okay, but what does it DO?” (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

Let’s not even bother with hyphens and spaces anymore, right folks? Let’s just call it what it is. (20th Television/Warner Bros.)

Once you start diving into the signs used for scenery, villains and everything — you can get lost before ever getting into the Batcave when it comes to the silliness! Thanks to Ralph Garman and @BatLabels on Twitter for their help in finding even the kookiest of gadgets!

Make sure you get ready for even more Batman fun in Loot Crate and Loot Crate DX‘s upcoming theme: BUILD! Get yours now for February and prepare for even more zany fun!
