With the release of New Horizons right around the corner, I wanted to prepare in the only way I know how. COOKIES. I wanted them to look like the iconic green leaf with the bite out of it with a cute, simple white frosting outline. Easy, right? That’s what I thought.

I picked sugar cookies because they’re simple, but MORE importantly, I had all the ingredients in my house already. First, I slapped the dry ingredients (flour, corn starch, and salt) in a bowl. The corn starch is to make my cookies spread less. No one wants goopy, fat leaves.
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 3/4 tsp salt
Next, I mixed up the yummy stuff. Sometimes I think about just stopping here and eating it…
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2Â eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Then, I threw those bad boys together. Like a beautiful, fatty waterfall.
At this point, I realized I needed to color my leaves GREEN. I really should’ve done that when it was a liquid… Happy Saint Paddy’s, y’all.
So now that my dough is some sort of green color, we can get to the fun part – shaping the leaves! To be honest, I think the first one was the best and it went downhill from there. Actually, everything went downhill from there.
After that, I popped those guys in the oven for 12 minutes and BAM!
SO… they looked different once they cooked… worse you could even say. But wait until you see them frosted!!!
…in my defense, it was 8:30PM and I got tired.
They look okay if you don’t look too hard. Squint your eyes and move your head side-to-side.
