Gaming News: Destiny 2’s INTENSE Reveal!

May 22nd, 2017 Candice Shane Features, Gaming, Video

There’s a LOT of information going on right now with the hype from Activision and Bungie’s Destiny 2 reveal last week. We compiled not just the awesome live event but also some interesting videos that give even more insight. Check them out!

Of course, Datto made sure to break down his impressions of everything you just saw, which includes hands-on from the floor of the keynote. Making sure to let players and viewers alike know that yes, the clear gameplay you’re used to from the first Destiny, those are still very much in play. Gameplay hasn’t been touched but instead, Bungie made sure to add more features and tweaking from their first game in the sequel. This is great news for people who actually enjoyed and flourished with the ease of gameplay but needed more balancing within the game so as not to run low on desire to play.

As someone who really enjoyed Destiny but found it a grind through the expansions and DLC, I was hoping to see balancing and a large change to the overall game terrain. Seeing as how Destiny has been going decently steady since its release, I was concerned we’d just be thrown right back into the same small maps that we’d already done time and time again — but with slight changes. To that end, even if they gave us new maps — if they had left them the same size as in the previous game — we’d be right back in this position give it a year or so following. Adding larger maps with an open-world MMO feel, even with quest-givers dotted all along the maps, really grabbed my attention. This opens up the world and doesn’t keep you hearing about the story from your Ghost or from back on Tower.

Now, Datto goes onto describe the PVP offerings that he had a chance to put his hands on but goes further to explain that things are drastically slowed down or reduced from what Destiny‘s PVP has ended up becoming. It’s not clear just yet if this is how it will stay, mind you, as the game hasn’t entered Beta yet and we can’t tell what fine tuning will still be done. This does make one wonder what Bungie noted from players through PVP in their first go around with Destiny and what it means for the future iterations in the sequel.

There are a ton of videos circulating about PVP in Destiny 2 but there’s simply not enough information just yet for us to reasonably gather anything from it until the Beta is released. However, the new subclasses are something that were shown briefly during the reveal and that HAS gathered more interest. Mr. Fruit detailed quite a bit of blink-and-you-may-miss it from the live reveal which goes on to show what we’ll be working with come September.

A huge bit of interest is the way they’ve revamped Clans within Destiny 2 and even introduced Guided Gameplay which will help players of any level find Clans that are inclusive to their experience. I have a rather diverse group of people I play with weekly and a good portion of those folks came from meeting them in the first Destiny. Here we are, years later, and we’re thick as thieves and play dozens of non-Destiny titles together. What does this mean? It means Bungie is aware of how their systems work and are hoping to give people the kind of experiences that Clans like ours have had. Friendships that soar beyond their intended title aren’t necessarily what you’d imagine a game company has in mind but Bungie realizes that group experiences make Destiny better. Truly, this is my most anticipated feature that goes beyond typical gameplay and it’s what I’ll be rooting for in the coming months.

There is much more information to be excited for, such as taking the fight away from consoles only and giving PC players a chance to get into the title. Even if that launch is still undetermined as the console release is slated for September, it still gives PC fans something to look forward to. Then again, it appears that is Bungie and Activision’s main goal with Destiny 2 – to give the fans something to believe in.

Destiny was a featured player in May’s GUARDIANS them, and Loot Gaming’s ROAD RAGE theme is still in effect and you can grab yourself a gaming crate all the way up until the 27th!
