Streaming the Loot: ROLE MODELS? on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and More!

May 17th, 2018 Nicole Campos Features, Streaming the Loot, Video

The summer season is growing ever closer, and plenty of awesome titles are available from the most popular streaming services – sometimes, they even intersect with the franchises we feature!

We want to give you a round-up regularly of some of the best you can stream to compliment your loot when it arrives, so this month, be a little bit ornery with us for Role Models? and these titles, featured across Loot Crate, Loot Crate DX and Loot Wear this month!:

Arrested Development (Netflix)

Who’s still celebrating Cinco de Quatro?! May is not just a great month but possibly the peak month to dive into Arrested Development in its new(ish) happy home on Netflix. Not only can you binge the Fox years (Seasons 1-3) from the beginning, you can then decide your thoughts about the new remixed Season 4 entitled Arrested Development: Fateful Consequences. (General concensus is breaking it up into a chronological 22 episodes, instead of 15 eps each based on one character, feels more like the pace of the original seasons.) Oh, and did we mention that brand-new Season 5 drops in less than two weeks, on May 29th? STEVE HOLT!!!

Archer (Hulu)

Are you having fun on Danger Island, Archer fans?!  The FX animation hit’s ninth season just kicked off, but if you simply can’t wait in between new episodes for a dose of Archer’s latest imagined adventure (while he’s still technically in that coma he was left in at the end of Season 7), then Hulu’s got your back with the entire run to date available to stream. Speaking of Season 7, you know you want to watch that Magnum P.I. shot-by-shot trailer again. Of course you do. It’s right there above…

The Punisher (Netflix, Showtime)

Most certainly, the most comprehensive option for you Frank Castle fans to stream at your leisure these days is Netflix’s intense 13-episode first season of The Punisher; while opinions were mixed on the season’s success as a complete story, virtually no one will argue that Jon Bernthal is absolutely transcendent as Castle, tapping into the character’s vulnerability in a way few have before. Of course, if you’re a fan of the previous big-screen iterations of Frank, you’re in luck if you’ve got a Showtime subscription or add-on; both The Punisher (starring Thomas Jane) and Lexi Alexander’s fan-favorite Punisher: War Zone are available there.

Deadpool (Amazon, basically. Also, anywhere you can find him?)

Now, here’s where things get a little disappointing. Sure, you’ve got a by-all-accounts amazing Deadpool sequel about to hit theaters, but his streaming profile? Not so hot there, Wade; really, your only option to stream the first Ryan Reynolds-starring flick is to rent it via Amazon or other VOD service. And perhaps more disappointing is the fact that there are virtually no good options to stream any of the excellent Marvel animated series of the past decade or so; Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD had a particularly fun Deadpool arc. (See above.)  Make due with whatever clips you can find!

The Big Lebowski (Cinemax)

Ditto the Dude, as with the Wade: None of the major streaming services are featuring The Big Lebowski at the moment in a way you can stream as part of your monthly fee. On the other hand, if you bought the Cinemax add-on, you can get your White Russian bowl-a-rama vibes on as much as you like. Let’s cut to the chase though, shall we?: This is one of those handful of films that you probably have no excuse not to own on BluRay. 😉

Harley Quinn (SS on Cinemax; Batman Animated 4 volumes on Amazon)

It wasn’t that long ago that if you wanted a hefty dose of Margot Robbie’s (admitted, pretty terrific) performance as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, HBO had you covered. The much-maligned antihero flick has been removed from the premium giant’s streaming service, though as with Lebowski, it is currently available if you dropped extra coin on Cinemax’s add-on. Meanwhile, if you have Amazon Prime, get your fill of O.G. animated Harley with Batman: The Animated Series, and there are four full volumes there for you to enjoy!

These and more ROLE MODELS? are coming your way in May’s crates; be sure to sign up for Loot Crate, Loot Crate DX and Loot Wear before 9pm on May 19th!
