Tuesday Trivia: An Adventure in Facts with Assassin’s Creed!

November 20th, 2018 Candice Shane Gaming, Tuesday Trivia

There’s so much Assassin’s Creed in the gaming sphere that there’s no way there’s not a time period you’re into that you can’t play in! Given the fact there are 21 current Assassin’s Creed titles, you can take your pick! With that said, how much do you KNOW about this game series?

1. The Animus is a huge hint to what these games are about: Philosophy. In fact, the term comes from Jung’s theory of Anima and Animus. Who is Jung? Carl Jung is a famous philosopher and psychologist who is credited for introducing analytical psychology to modern medicine.

2. Assassin’s Creed: Lineage is a live-action series of short films that helps tie up loose ends between the first two Assassin’s Creed games, which was quite needed given the timelines and differences of main characters, with a new protagonist taking on Assassin’s Creed 2.

3. There are quite a few geeky little references in Assassin’s Creed 2, such as one where people take note of you just being another ‘caped crusader’ and a relative named Mario who talks much like the famous Nintendo plumber. Subtle, but adorable nonetheless.

4. Ubisoft has stated that 80 percent of the named characters in their third title, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, are historically accurate in their professions and titles. Can you imagine the research done to place all of these people in this timeline!?

5. When playing Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and you’re in Abstergo back in the real world, the offices are littered with books based on Assassin’s Creed. Interesting note: They are game representations of the actual real-life books written about Assassin’s Creed but with a different title.

6. The shortest game in the Assassin’s Creed series is Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, clocking in at only 7 sequences and a main character who is a, wait for it, Templar!

(Ubisoft)

7. The recreation of Notre Dame in Assassin’s Creed Unity was done by a single employee and it took over six months, due to it being an exact replica. Not only is the outside of it visible and can be viewed to proper scale in the game, but you can explore the interior as well which is also exact. I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that was someone’s job for over six MONTHS! Wow.

8. The first Assassin’s Creed came out a year later from console on PC officially in 2008. Many pirating countermeasures were taken when releasing on PC that many say accounted for at least three months of the development for the PC port.

9. Music used in every single Assassin’s Creed game are composed with the legitimate instruments of the era the game takes place in. Painstaking processes were put together for research of these instruments before the composers fully started building the scores.

(Ubisoft)

10. Players in the initial two Assassin’s Creed games had to go through training as an Assassin but this was ultimately changed in order for Assassins to end up having a look into a more ethereal and other-worldly aura instead. This was explained as a historic and fated skill that these Assassins are born with, thus making them special and heroic. Let’s admit it, it helps make those early chapters FAR easier, right?

And there’s just a taste of the rad trivia to this heavy-duty game series! Fans like me will be happy to know there is an Assassin’s Creed EXCLUSIVE in this month’s BLADE Loot Gaming Crate! Just thank the Templars we’re not sending you a full Animus.
