Oh my graybles! We’re more than a little excited to have some Adventure Time good fun in April’s ARTIFACTS lineup! Since we’re so stoked to talk about Jake, Finn and the whole crew — we thought we’d dip into some Trivia! Let’s go!
1. Adventure Time is one of only two Cartoon Network original series that were renewed past their sixth season, the other being Regular Show.
2. Originally, Finn’s name was Pen which Pendleton Ward (the show’s creator, giving his hero a personal spin) had written in. Later though, he decided against it and gave Finn his very identity!
3. Princess Bubblegum may be Ice King’s personal favorite of the Princesses but he has only successfully kidnapped her once. You know, during the pilot.
4. Only Marceline calls Princess Bubblegum by her first name which is Bonnibel. Quite an adorable first name, right?
5. It’s not common that a voice cast for an animated show records their lines at the same time in the same room but Adventure Time, for the most part, does this… which lends to its unique tone.
6. Part of the reason Finn ages a year every season is because the writers and creators wanted Jeremy Shada, who voices him, to continue to be able to voice the character as he got older.
7. There is a tiny snail in all but one episode of Adventure Time that will occasionally wander into frame and wave to the viewer during the show. How many times have you seen the snail?!
8. Adventure Time is the first of the Frederator Studios shows to not be aired on Nickelodeon. Trust me, they’re probably still kicking themselves for not taking it when it was pitched.
9. The Adventure Time video games are indeed considered canon, which is rare among game adaptations of animated shows.
10. Adventure Time is in hallowed ground territory as it’s the first Cartoon Network series since The Powerpuff Girls that was had a film adaptation automatically greenlit based on its strong reception through six seasons. Movies aren’t offered to series often and when they do, it’s a pretty huge deal!
