JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure‘s Diamond is Unbreakable arc may have ended but I am still daydreaming about my favorite Stands from the 39 episode run.
Narrowing it down to just my top three Stands was a difficult challenge. I thought about making a chart, doing some math, or maybe just throwing darts to see which would hit just three, but in the end I went with my gut. And my gut rarely ever fails me.
Josuke’s Crazy Diamond Stand is crazy tough! (Shonen Jump)
#3 – Crazy Diamond: Our hero Josuke Higashikata’s Stand, Crazy Diamond is a solid ally. He packs quite the punch when it comes to exchanging blows, and with its amazing speed and super strength, going up against Josuke most often means certain defeat. But perhaps the coolest aspect of this Stand is that it can restore broken items. Torn papers, damaged items, and even broken bones – all of these can be repaired should Josuke feel so inclined. The only downside is that the Stand owner cannot heal themselves using the Restoration technique. Somehow that doesn’t seem to affect Josuke too much as he appears to heal up quickly. And is it just me or is Crazy Diamond the secret behind that sweet pompadour?

#2 – Echoes: We had just met Koichi when he was struck with that Arrow. My heart just about fell out of my chest. I’d just met this adorable first-year, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Thanks to Crazy Diamond’s Restoration we didn’t have to. But that Arrow did something to Koichi. Koichi finds himself now in possession of a very unique Stand. Echoes has three evolutionary Acts which Koichi can summon as needed. My favourite of these is Act 1 in which Echoes has the ability to turn written sound effects to reality and uses words to influence those tagged. Just recalling how Koichi used his Stand in defense of his loved ones brings a smile to my face. I’d love the power to turn my surroundings into super soft pillows or bounce pads should I find myself inexplicably needing to be protected from sharp objects.

#1 – Pearl Jam: My absolute favourite Stand in Diamond is Unbreakable is something I never would have expected to be in the JoJo’s universe. Pearl Jam is a Stand belonging to an Italian chef who has set up shop in Morioh. Unlike other Stands that are battle-ready, Chef Tonio’s Stand grants him the ability to create foods that can heal ailments of his customers. He’s a skilled and trained chef, so it isn’t as though the Stand is doing all the work for him. Pearl Jam appears to encourage the healing properties of the ingredients so that they work immediately and to their fullest. What I wouldn’t give for the power to conceive and execute tasty yet nutritious dishes so good that they can cure my chronic tiredness? How about coaxing new teeth to grow or help rejuvenate aching muscles? Oh, how my mouth salivates at the thought of a special chef’s choice meal from Chef Tonio! Why does anime food not exist in the real world?
