It’s that time of year Y’ALL! Join me in ignoring friends and family to play some Christmas-themed video games instead! ❤️?
5. Saints Row IV: How the Saints Save Christmas
Nothing screams Christmas like SAINTS ROW! Alright, I’ll admit it’s a weird first choice, but hear me out.
How the Saints Save Christmas is a mission pack released for Saints Row IV in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It contains 3 missions: Miracle on 3rd Street, The Fight Before Christmas, and The Santa Clawz. It’s a delightful, cheeky Chistmas-themed romp full of buck-wild content and awful puns.
Also explosions. Lots of explosions.
4. SkiFree
This classic game haunted the dreams of all 90s kids. And nothing screams Christmas like NIGHTMARES.
In this delightful game, you play as a skier going down a mountainside, avoiding obstacles. Then when you least expect it, a yeti runs out and eats you. A classic game that will definitely get you in the mood to spend time with your loved ones.
3. Hitman 2: Holiday Hoarders
Nothing screams Christmas like ASSASSINATION.
Holiday Hoarders is a downloadable mission for Hitman 2 released in 2016 for the PS 4, Xbox One, and Windows. In this mission, you’re stopping two thieves who are stealing presents. These thieves happen to be named Harry and Marv, a callout to the Home Alone thieves.
You can also dress as Santa. And kill Santa. It’s all great Christmas fun!!!
2. Dead Rising 4
I’ll be the first to admit this list is far more murder-centric than I expected, but sometimes life is like that.
Dead Rising 4 is a zombie game released in 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows. It takes place in a Christmas-themed Willamette, Colorado and includes a bunch of fun Christmasy bits. For example, a reindeer motorcycle called “Santa’s Little Melter” that you can use to mow down zombies.
Now if that doesn’t scream Christmas, I clearly don’t know what does.
1. Home Alone
Okay, for real this time, nothing screams Christmas like Home Alone.
In this 1991 SEGA Genesis game, you play as Kevin protecting houses from the Wet Bandits. You travel around by sled and battle the bandits in different houses. It’s just delightful. And yeah, this might be 90% nostalgic based, but Home Alone for the SEGA Genesis is my top game to get me in the Christmasy mood!
