This month, while our team tries to “Investigate” that dark shadowy forest or the noise coming from the attic, we’re bringing you some fun of your own to investigate, right from the comfort of your couch! That’s right- we’re talking Easter Eggs!
No, not the colorful eggs you hide, but the ones included in most aspects of movies, television, and video games. But just what are Easter Eggs? Easter Eggs are jokes or references hidden away in a scene, hard to spot but fun to realize when you do! The folks over at Disney/Pixar are famous for slipping Easter Eggs into their films. Stranger Things vs. Stephen King’s Needful Things
You can’t have a list about Easter Eggs without including the Netflix hit, Stranger Things. Chock full of nostalgia for the 80’s, you will also find the title card of the show shares a similar look and sound to a Stephen King novel, Needful Things. Check out the comparison for yourself!
The Endings of Clue
Loot Crate, in the Library, with the multiple endings! Did you know that Clue filmed three different endings? Movie theaters were sent one of the three endings to show to audiences. If you wanted to, you could see the film again and see the movie in a different light! When the film was released on DVD, the endings were compiled to play one after the other, showing that just like the board game inspiration, anything can happen!
Daredevil and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Stick with us on this one! Fans of both Daredevil and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles often say the two co-exist in the same universe. According to theory, the can of sludge/ooze/insert name here that caused Matt Murdock’s blindness is also the same that created the Ninja Turtles. What do you think?
Hans Zimmer Spells It Out For Us
Investigate would not be complete without a bit of the Caped Crusader! This Easter Egg is actually in song! On the soundtrack for the 2005 film Batman Begins, composer Hans Zimmer hid the name of the crime-fighter in the song titles!
Do you speak Alien?
Easter Egg continuity is key, which can be said of the appearance of the Alien language throughout the series Futurama. Appearing in a slew of episodes, the language has been decoded by fans of the show. You can check out the translations on your own if you’re curious to know what they say.
