It’s entirely possible that we’ve been binging the entire Marvel Universe on Netflix — but we’re focused up on Daredevil today. Why? Because The Man Without Fear is featured in our INVESTIGATE Loot Crate DX this April! How much do you know about Daredevil aka Matt Murdock? Let’s find out!
1. Foggy Nelson, Matt’s faithful BFF, once lost Matt’s seeing-eye dog in a poker game. The dog’s name was Deuce. Deuce the Devil Dog.
2. The first version of Daredevil (the black masked vigilante) you see in the Netflix series is based on Frank Miller’s ‘The Man Without Fear’ run of the comics. (Go check it out. You’ll love it.)
3. Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame, were actually inspired to create their teenage ninjas because of Frank Miller’s Daredevil run.
4. Mark Steven Johnson’s theatrical film ‘Daredevil’ suffered due to major cuts but has found cult popularity in the Director’s Cut edition of the Ben Affleck film.
5. Daredevil has periodically dated Black Widow in the comics since… long, long ago. How long ago? Back in the 1970s. And you thought your relationships had history.
6. Stan Lee’s favorite comic book issue ever is Daredevil #47, “Brother, Take My Hand” written in December of 1968.
7. During the ‘Extremis’ run of Iron Man, Tony Stark used Extremis to bring Matt Murdock’s sight back. It was short-lived, however. Poor Matt!
8. Charlie Cox is the first non-American to portray Daredevil. (He’s British.)
9. Second only to Game of Thrones, the first season of Daredevil on Netflix was the most pirated TV series in 2016.
10. Wilson Fisk is never once referred to as ‘The Kingpin’ within the first season of the television show. (The term does appear during Season Two, though. We won’t say how. Watch it!)
