Usually we expect blockbuster movies to come to us in summer, but what about the latter half of the year? We’ve got some very promising flicks coming to theaters this fall and we wanted to get you guys up to date on the best! Check out these trailers, dates included, and prepare yourself to be stuffed with fun (and popcorn):
Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle (September 22nd): If you saw the very first Kingsman film, you are probably excited already for this flick. I won’t spoil a single thing but this super-stylized take on a new and younger James Bond-esque story is everything you never knew you wanted. It’s a quirky, intense, hilarious and surprisingly touching universe, and this time Eggsy and the Kingsman crew return with the help/hindrance of an American based espionage group called Statesman. Boasting a stellar all-star cast, you’ll want to be in the theaters late September.
Blade Runner 2049 (October 6th): It’s been a long time coming for another taste of the sci-fi realm of Blade Runner. Did we expect that Harrison Ford would return in 2017 alongside Ryan Gosling? Nah. I don’t think a lot of us did but given Gosling’s dusky voice and his stage-presence in movies like Drive and The Place Beyond the Pines, we know he can handle some intensity. Let’s see where this saga ends up; you’ve only got to wait until October for this one!
Goodbye Christopher Robin (October 13th): The story of A.A. Milne shown through the amazing acting prowess of Domnhall Gleeson as Milne works through the traumas of war by writing Winnie the Pooh, in hopes it brings light to the sweeter things in life. The real-life story of how Milne takes inspiration from his own child, named Christopher Robin, it promises the struggles of interpreting the sweetness of youth during a difficult era, and bringing people hope once again with his iconic story about a bear and his best friend. This one promises a lot of tears. Bring your parents!
The Foreigner (October 13th): Jackie Chan is back. I don’t even need to say anymore other than that this film looks like it tears Chan away from his comedy-action films that a lot of folks remember from their childhood and will give you straight goosebumps. The movie depicts a businessman (Chan) struggling when he comes to find his young daughter is killed at the hands of political terrorism; meanwhile Pierce Brosnan plays a government official attempting to get to the bottom of it all. Jackie, we’re so glad to have you for this one!
Suburbicon (October 27th): Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac topline this crazy view into a Pleasantville-like scenario where things go just a little bit crazy. The mob enters this delicate little neighborhood only to find that, well, the neighbors are up to the task. Get ready for an off-kilter, quirky film directed by George Clooney (Can this guy do anything without Matt Damon these days? Dang.) and get real into what you and your neighbors would do if you thought it was up to you to save the day.
Marshall (October 13th): The story of legendary U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall arrives with Chadwick Boseman, Kate Hudson and Josh Gad and it looks absolutely incredible. Movies that examine the individuals that shaped our history always get to me and this one is a must-see. Directed by Reginald Hudlin, this film has Oscar-Worthy written all over it. Get in there and learn something about the first African-American Supreme Court Justice and how his career shaped our country’s future.
Thor Ragnarok (November 3rd): You didn’t think we were going to get through a fall movie preview without mentioning THOR, right!? I mean, what do you need to know that this trailer doesn’t show you? The incredible cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, (give me a minute to breathe) Jeff Goldblum, Benedict Cumberbatch and so many more that I’d spend the rest of this article listing them. OH GOD and IDRIS FREAKING ELBA. See? Grab your friends, grab the kids and get off to see Thor this November. We’ll be right there, saving you some seats.
Coco (November 22nd): Disney and Pixar are at it again with this gorgeous trailer for the upcoming Coco, a movie about a young boy whose family has thwarted music around him. Miguel’s love for the music of Ernesto de la Cruz leads him to push further with his devotion to music which thrusts him into the Land of the Dead, a colorful and whimsical place full of history and musical vibrancy. Personally, I can’t wait to see these characters come to the screen and give us a brand new experience for kids (and adults) to delve into this fall.
