Hopefully you haven’t been living under a rock, otherwise this may come as a shock to you… Avengers Endgame is coming out in just over a month, and the Internet is littered with theories on how this fourth installment of the Avengers will go.
I think the biggest item up for debate is who we’ll have to bid a final goodbye to in the upcoming film. The cast of characters in the MCU is so vast and many wonder how Marvel plans on juggling them all in the future. Obviously, some cuts have to be made at some point, right?
So to have a little fun, the rest of The Daily Crate Team and I wrote little blurbs on who we think is at the highest risk of not making it all the way through Avengers Endgame. Avengers: Infinity Wars spoilers ahead… if that needs to be said anymore.
I’ll start.
Tyler: Nebula
Before jumping to any quick conclusions, I thought back to what some of the biggest plot points were that defined the turning points of Avengers: Infinity War. I think the biggest shock to everyone was when Thanos threw Gamora off the cliff to obtain the Soul Stone. One might think that Star-Lord would be the one to avenge his love, but I disagree. Nebula has the biggest ties to both Gamora (adoptive sister) and Thanos (adoptive father). Thanos caused Nebula so much grief even before the events of Infinity War, which is why I think she will be the demise of the purple dude. In turn, I think it will result in Nebula having to sacrifice herself to kill Thanos and save her sister. It would be an awesome heroic ending for her story, and honestly… what does Nebula have to lose?
Nicole: Iron Man and Captain America
“I think it’s been telegraphed pretty strongly in the trailers so far that both Tony and Steve are potentially not going to make it out of this one. This being 2019 and knowing what fans know these days about stars’ contracts and what not, that makes the guessing game a little easier, too! But I don’t think it would be out of the question to tell RDJ and Evans fans to prepare themselves. I’ll tell you who I really hope doesn’t die, though, and that’s Thor – Hemsworth’s contract is up too, but come on guys. They’ve finally really discovered his voice, he plays well with a lot of the newer characters and there’s SO much more you can do with him. Re-sign him, immediately!”
Josh: Iron Man and Captain America
“Personally, I am fully prepared for them to really pull at our heartstrings with some big name deaths like Tony Stark or Cap, being that they are the most “human” of the main Avengers. I imagine they’d meet some heroic demise, something akin to Tony saving Pepper or some other loved one and going out in a true Iron Man blaze of glory or Captain America sacrificing himself to save the whole team or something since that’s such a Cap thing to do. Or hell, who knows, maybe I am completely wrong and it’s just that Bruce Willis was dead the whole time and the Avengers is just a dream. And you were there, and you were there, and YOU were there!”
Candice: Hawkeye
“Personally, I think we’re going to see a more secondary character hit the iceberg in Endgame. I know it may seem like a cop-out but I feel like we’re going to lose Hawkeye/Ronin in this one which will then give his daughter the ability to take up the mantle in the upcoming films. Hear me out though, because there is a female Hawkeye in the comics and I think it’s pretty reasonable to expect that our beloved Clint will go out in a blaze of archery.”
Amanda: Thor and Okoye
“After first viewing the Avengers: Endgame poster, my stomach dropped. I’m probably falling right into the trap that Disney has made, but when you look at the poster, only TWO characters are looking to the right while the others, all fight towards the left.
My death predictions for the final installment of The Avengers are: Thor and Okoye.
*starts bawling in anticipation.
I believe Thor and Okoye will sacrifice themselves for the better of mankind/ their people. Beyond that, I have absolutely no crazy fan theories about who dies. (Mostly because I’ve been hiding from the internet from them.)
I’m ready MCU. Go ahead and break my Thor-loving heart.”
