I’m going to do a lot of things here that are going to make your geeky Holiday viewing parties all the better! How many of you remember some of these Christmas specials from the 80s and 90s? Don’t worry, they’ll become part of your line-up soon enough!
Granted, not everyone remembers these but that’s what makes this all the better! I mean, some of them are downright geeky nostalgia fodder but you can share these with the kids in your lives with pride! Sure, maybe one of them may be a bit jarring — but it’s just too fun to NOT show you guys! Check these videos out and get that holiday spirit going strong!
He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special

The awesome folks that kept up with He-Man and She-Ra were kind enough to give everyone a chance to view this 80’s Christmas treat! Watch as the tropes are all in play! Human children teaching Skeletor the meaning of Christmas and giving!? It’s almost too perfect! Wait, why did it take a couple of Earth kids to do what He-Man couldn’t? Ohhh. Wait. I get it now! Clever!
We Wish You a Turtle Christmas

Released direct to DVD in 1994, I’m not ENTIRELY sure what was being thought when the folks working on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tour were putting this jam together. However, it’s got everything a TMNT fan would need to cringe and rap right along with his toothy turtle heroes. Get into it, friends. It’s definitely a sight to behold.
Bump in the Night: ‘Twas the Night Before Bumpy

I’m unsure how many of you guys remember Bump in the Night, a Saturday Morning ‘cartoon’ series on ABC from 1994 to 1995. Sure, they only got ONE Christmas special but it was just too adorable to watch this stop-motion special in action. Fun fact: Jim Cummings aka Winnie the Pooh was the voice of the titular Mr. Bumpy!
Alvin and the Chipmunks: A Chipmunk Christmas

Another situation where a beautiful cleaned up version of this 80’s classic was brought to us by the official Alvin and the Chipmunks folks! While the new generation may only know Alvin, Simon and Theodore as ‘live-action’ CGI characters, us 80’s babies knew them as these lil’ guys. Full of songs and happiness, this one STILL brings a little gleam of happy to my eye.
Fraggle Rock: The Bells of Fraggle Rock

There is something so warm and comforting about Fraggle Rock. Granted, everyone jumps on the Muppet Christmas Carol and A Muppet Family Christmas but what about that Jim Henson Workshop Christmas love over here in Fraggle Rock? Share this one with the kids and they’ll be dancing about all over! Heck, I am as we speak!
