We all know the truth is out there, right? Scully and Mulder have been bringing it to us every time on The X-Files and I thought of three of the creepiest Monster-of-the-Week type creatures that haunt me constantly. Check these out and tell me if you were a bit spooked yourself!
Now, granted, these are just a few and we’re sure you have some of your own favorites, to use that term loosely for as creepy as they are, so make sure you let us know yours. These are just a few that span over not just the seasons from the beginning but one from the newer episodes as well! Let’s get into it, shall we?
Eugene Tooms from “Squeeze” | Season 1, Episode 3
We all knew Eugene Tooms was a creep show, right? What we didn’t know is that he wasn’t just a mass murderer but a mutant that was consuming livers after a 30 year hibernation which kept him alive for such a long time. I mean, the guy was dated back to 1903 and that’s, well, that’s a lot of livers. After finding out his fingerprints are elongated because he can contort and extrude himself through vents, chimneys and tight spaces — they realize what they’re dealing with. Becoming obsessed with Scully, he nearly snatches her up to have a bit of Scully pate’ when Mulder comes through to help capture this insane creature. The most haunting though was the final scene where, when getting food passed to him through a slot in his cell, he creepily peers at the slot and you know… if they’re not careful (spoiler alert: they’re not) they’ll lose this slippery jerk again.
‘The Soul Eater’ from “The Gift” | Season 8, Episode 11
This is when we find out more about Mulder’s brain disease and also where Scully is mysteriously not REALLY present? Turns out Gillian Anderson was off on maternity leave and so stock footage was used. Be that as it may, this episode has a heap of Mulder and Doggett (Robert Patrick, anyone?) attempting to find out some rather interesting mythos stuff about what is essentially a tale of a Soul Eater. A Soul Eater will take the pain and illness from others at the expense of themselves which, as the episode states is “The Gift” of a Soul Eater. Quite a few folks have been happily taking advantage of this creature’s existence which is, let’s be honest, a sad one. Don’t worry though! Mulder and Doggett are on the case! After taking pity on the poor creature, Doggett feels he’ll just have to take it in and save it from the people that are using it to save themselves but when a fight breaks out and Doggett ‘dies’ — the Soul Eater yums up his death and Doggett is back to work! Sure, it seems that pesky Soul Eater is terrifying (which it is) but it means well and it died taking on Doggett’s death. So, well, at least we’re done with THAT horror show.
‘Mr. Chuckleteeth’ from “Familiar” | Season 11, Episode 8
Teletubby-alikes, insane black and white terror puppets? I really don’t need to say much more, do I? Due to gifs of Mr. Chuckleteeth being NEARLY impossible to find — check that video out up there if you’re trying to see what my gosh darn issue is. Read this in your best Stefon voice, because it’s important. This episode has everything: Demonic kid shows, hellhounds and so much salt in circles that your doctor will put you on high blood pressure medication. Want to see Mr. Chuckleteeth get chased down with guns? Don’t worry — we’ve got that too. This episode is the most terrifying thing I’ve seen in awhile and that’s saying something because I woke up and Dance Moms was on once.
So, there you have it. Three icky-icks from The X-Files that I am still having a hard time shaking out of my brain. What creatures, monsters and gross things are you still struggling with from X-Files? Share and let us know! I’m always looking for a new thing to torture myself with! (Someone help me.)
