The Nintendo Switch is off to a strong start with Nintendo’s AAA hits like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey but the company has put their full support behind indie games as well. They even gave them a cute nickname: Nindies!

Starting with the top selling indie game on the Switch currently, Stardew Valley. I am ADDICTED to this game and I am not ashamed to say I’ve played it on the PC and restarted my life on the Switch. The game play is pretty relaxing and easy going (until you get deep in those mines.) You play a character who’s basically given up their corporate life for the farm life. The character customization is great and this is one of the few games where you can control your character’s sexuality and enter a same-sex relationship if you choose to do so. It’s also an easy game to kick back and play while watching some TV at the same time. This is almost a perfect port of the PC game but there are a few hiccups. I wish the game would have utilized the touch screen as some of the menus are hard to get to, even when you use the curser function.
Stardew Valley is available now and $14.99 on the Nintendo eShop.
If you’re more inclined to play spooky games The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Plus is the perfect title for you. If you played it previously this game includes a new expansion plus all of the previous DLC. If you haven’t played the game yet I highly recommend it! It’s a fast paced shoot ’em up game with all of these power ups that are just bonkers. The game varies each play through so you are sure to always experience something new. The only downside of this game is the lack of information around the power ups. You will definitely have to google some of them if you want to use them to their full ability.

Golf Story may sound like your run of the mill sports games but it is not! It’s a life simulator of sorts where you strive to build your career are a golf super star. It’s an odd game where you go through a story, play golf, and complete tasks for the NPCs in the game. The golfing can be a bit much sometimes but it is a fun twist on the life simulator type game!
