How’s your 2019 going so far, Looters! If you’re off and running and need to take a breather on the weekend or what not to relax and BINGE some awesomeness, we’ve got more recs for you that are available from the most popular streaming services – sometimes, they even intersect with the franchises we feature!
We want to give you a round-up regularly of some of the best you can stream to compliment your loot when it arrives, so this month, get ready to double down on the purpose of this column! It’s the BINGE theme, which you should be receiving soon and featuring these titles included across Loot Crate, Loot Crate DX and Loot Wear from January!
Black Mirror
Look, part and parcel with the BINGE theme this month… this is a GREAT month for streaming options. Starting with Black Mirror, the first two seasons (short though they were) being picked up by Netflix several years back. Ever since Netflix has been the home of Charlie Brooker’s dystopic anthology series. Bandersnatch was our most recent taste, but a new season is coming before the end of 2019. In the meantime, dive into the rest of it if you haven’t already; the best episodes are “The Entire History of You,” starring a pre-Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker; “Be Right Back,” a gorgeous tearjerker starring Hayley Atwell and Domnhall Gleeson; the award-winning and gobsmacking 80’s (or is it?!) tale “San Junipero” with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis; and the nerdy AF and scary AF “USS Callister,” which you can see a peek of in this Season 4 trailer. Epic.
Friends
I mean… what can you say about one of the biggest damn sitcoms of the 90’s. It’s probably airing on either a local station or one of your standard cable outlets right now, but Netflix saw fit to shell out $100 million last year to keep the rights to airing it, so if you’ve got Netflix and you really can’t decide which documentary to watch (psst…there are some good ones)… maybe it’s time to watch Friends again? If anything, watch it for Phoebe. As this clip real demonstrates, Phoebe is always and forever the real MVP.
Spongebob Squarepants
Welllll, once upon a time most of Spongebob Squarepants was available to stream on Hulu. Not so much anymore; however, if you’ve got an Amazon Prime account, the first four seasons are ready to go for your viewing pleasure. And what better time to dive into the salad days of Bikini Bottom?! Also, worth pointing out that for a measly $3.99, you can rent the first Spongebob Squarepants Movie... which is 100% worth the coin not only for its inclusion of the greatest Ween song of all time, but for DAVID HASSELHOFF.
Bob’s Burgers
Okay, now we’re back on firmer ground with Hulu, which is currently the home of every episode of Bob’s Burgers up through Season 9! Want to catch up with the Belchers? There’s no better place to do it, although if you’ve been slacking off lately, you really need to catch up with the Tina train. We love Louise. We love Gene. But if you’re not a disciple of the goddess that is Tina Belcher yet, you haven’t been paying attention. Enjoy this clip reel of the best of Tina before you dive in!
Archer
And it so happens that Hulu is also currently the home of Archer‘s run of non-stop soused espionage mayhem, all the way up through Season 8. Though you might want to put your feet up and enjoy a cocktail while binging this spy comedy classic, you probably want to keep your wits about you, as the jokes come so hard and fast in Archer that if you aren’t paying it your undivided attention, you’re going to miss a lot of laughs. Yeah, maybe put that pot of coffee on, kiddo. And buckle up.
