Not many sci-fi shows are touched by the hands of Jim Henson, but Farscape was! With under 100 episodes, it remains one of the all-time most beloved sci-fi shows out there. Just how much do you know about Farscape?
1. In TV Guide’s list for 25 shows with the best cult following, Farscape ranked at number 4!
2. At one point, the series was almost cancelled due to production nearly getting shut down. This is due to their location being taken from them in order to start production on another larger name in the sci-fi game. What production was that?
3. James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy directorial fame has stated that, of all the sci-fi shows in existence, they took the most inspiration from Farscape in terms of setting up characters and having fun with the sci-fi of it all.
4. The character DK is named after writer and producer David Kemper. That sure makes character naming easy, right?
5. The lead of Farscape, John Crichton, is played by Ben Browder who has also been in the sci-fi hit Stargate SG-1. When asked if he was going towards sci-fi roles for a reason, he stated its his favorite genre and they’re worlds he much rather play around in. It shows!
6. Only one actor has been in all 88 episodes of the show and that’s Ben Browder. Would be a bit awkward if the lead character was just.. gone though, you know? Glad he was there!
7. The working title of Farscape (a thing television and movies does to avoid spoilers and prepare for merchandising) was Far Horizon. Glad they held out for Farscape!
