Much like everyone else right now, we absolutely love the hit Netflix show Stranger Things! How much do you know about this binge-worthy show and the people in it? Check out this trivia and find out some fun facts about it at the same time!
1. Shannon Purser, who played the fan-favorite ‘Barb’ on the show, became so popular that she had to quit her job at a movie theater. Why? This was her first acting role and she never anticipated it would take off so big. It was so big, in fact, that people were showing up at the theater to snap pics and just spot her! #Justice4Barb
2. This movie is an absolute love-letter to fans of sci-fi pop culture. You can spot homages to Alien, The Goonies, Twin Peaks, X-Men, Stephen King’s books, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, They Live and so, so many more. Hey, even E.T. got a whole lot of love!
3. Everyone’s favorite kid-in-a-cap Dustin, played by Gaten Matarazzo, actually aged into a deeper voice which made it impossible for them to record additional dialogue after filming. Expect a deeper voice next season. Our boys are growing up so fast!
4. Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, actually hates Eggos. Not a fan. Not even a little. She took a lot of Eggos to the gut for her craft! Someone get her a Golden Globe!
5. In fact, that love affair that Eleven has for Eggo waffles? It’s actually a tip-of-the-cap to E.T. who was obsessed with Reese’s Pieces.
6. Gaten Matarazzo’s quirky and adorable lisp that he explains is an actual condition, is the same condition Gaten has in real life. The actor does his best to use his new found popularity to bring awareness to Cleidocranial Dysplasia.
7. The boys, Will, Lucas, Mike and Dustin, all had to audition using scenes from 80’s movies — to show they had an actual grasp of dialogue and cadence from that film age.
8. The Duffer Brothers, responsible for the creation of the series, took a lot of nods from Stephen King’s books but also their film adaptations. Like I said “love-letter” status, right?
