We’re guessing that at this point, you’re as stoked as we are for Thor: Ragnarok coming up this November. So we’re highlighting all of our favorites from far-away Asgard and giving you some trivia you may not know! Strap in! Let’s jam!
1. Director Taika Waititi said that he wanted to take Chris Hemsworth’s comedic timing and actually showcase it in Thor: Ragnarok. This will be a far more funny film than the previous Thor flicks but if the trailers are any indication, it’s going to be perfect.
2. Speaking of that comedy, much of the dialogue in Thor: Ragnarok is improvised. They wanted a loose and somewhat freeform flow to the dialogue which will only make those interactions stronger. Can’t wait to see how that affects Thor and Loki!
3. In the Marvel comics, when not wielding Mjolnir, Thor uses a mace that is given to him by Hercules. Maybe that’s the exact same mace that Thor is throwing around in Ragnarok? 😉
4. The song in the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok is ‘Immigrant Song‘ by Led Zeppelin. What makes that so notable is how difficult it is to get a song by Led Zeppelin licensed for a film of any kind, let alone a comic book action flick! Good score, Marvel!
5. We almost had a Jeff Goldblum Hulk! Goldblum was considered and even auditioned for the role of Bruce Banner in the 2003 Hulk film. Can you even imagine that kind of world!?
6. Want to talk about retro fashion? Valkyrie’s full-body with silver and gold accents armor is straight from her comic book arc in the 1970’s issues. If anyone could bring that back, it’d be her.
7. Thor: Ragnarok was actually slated to be the shortest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks, clocking in at 1 hour and 40 minutes. However, it’s also newly slated for 2 hours and 10 minutes. Re-shoots? Extras? I can’t wait to find out.
8. This will be the first of the Thor films to abandon mention of Jane Foster and the crew of scientists that saved Thor once he landed on Earth. Let’s hope they wrap that concept neatly up in a bow because I have questions!
9. Hela, played by Cate Blanchett, is the first female to actually be on screen as a main villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ll show ’em all how it’s done, Hela!
10. Often enough, films and promotional materials are given codenames to thwart theft and pirating of them before their release. Thor: Ragnarok’s codename was ‘Creature Report‘.
