With the launch of Battle for Azeroth less than a week away, it’s no surprise that the hype train is moving full-steam ahead for WoW fans around the world – myself included. This time around, though, there’s been so much drama and controversy around the story leading into World of Warcraft’s 7th expansion – more specifically, controversy around the ruthless Warchief, Sylvanas.
However, there has been a shining light in the darkness for Horde players in the way of Varok Saurfang. Saurfang is one of the OG Orc leaders in the Horde, and someone that many members of the embattled faction (myself included) felt would be the ideal choice for Warchief. He’s strong, wise, strategic, and, maybe most importantly, he is honorable. Unfortunately, the recent actions of Sylvanas have made Saurfang question his allegiances, question his place in the current Horde. Following last week’s burning of Teldrassil, Saurfang has serious doubts about moving forward with a Horde, and a Warchief, that have no honor. We see all of this shake out in a cinematic released by Blizzard recently titled “Old Soldier”, an incredible and emotional look into Saurfang’s current state of mind following the horrific actions during the War of Thorns. This cinematic is amazing, and in my opinion, it is one of the greatest cinematics that Blizzard has ever made.
