This month, Loot Crate and Loot Crate DX are celebrating the heroes in pop culture that do all they can to PROTECT the people, places, and things they care most about. In their act of protecting, they also have some of their own awesome ways to protect themselves.
That’s right, we’re talking badass armors and more! Ranging from well-known characters from the video game world to some picks you might not have thought of, this list shows off some of the armor and more that we think is truly fitting of the word PROTECT.
Black Panther and the Dora Milaje from Marvel’s Black Panther
We couldn’t help but lead with Black Panther in our excitement for the upcoming film release this month. We’ve already seen his suit in action in Captain America: Civil War but from the recent trailers that have been released for his solo film, it looks as though audiences will be treated to a whole new level of rad with the suit in the film. I mean, just look at that transformation scene!
We’re also just as excited to see the Dora Milaje in action, as we’ve seen bits and pieces of the badass bodyguards from Wakanda in action from the trailers and they look absolutely amazing. Cannot stop watching the gif below, to be quite honest. We’re not sure if we can hold out until release day!
Wonder Woman
A list about armor would be a shame of a list if it did not include Wonder Woman’s iconic armor. Both practical and completely badass, this Amazonian armor keeps Wonder Woman protected in battles ranging from the deadliest of super villains to the battles of World War I. Her armor has changed, grown, and evolved throughout her history in the comic book, television, and film formats, but at its very core her armor is exactly what she needs to protect herself and protect others.
Jaune Arc from RWBY
Jaune Arc from Rooster Teeth’s hit animation RWBY has always been one to wear armor, but recently had a major upgrade to his look. While the reasons behind the upgrade aren’t the cheeriest (it’s actually quite sad when you know the details) the new look of his armor going into this past season set him to up to be quite the protector, not just for himself but for his team.
Alice from Alice in Wonderland
Remember how we mentioned a pick that you might not have thought of? Surprise! The armor that Alice from the recent Alice in Wonderland films wears during her battle with the Jabberwocky is both pretty badass but also is practical. The armor gives Alice mobility and movement, doesn’t have the ever popular “boob armor” look, and is hardy enough to stand up against a battle with a giant, dragonesque creature, the Jabberwocky. The armor looks and most likely feels like a real suit of armor would for a knight- not that comfortable but hey, it stops you from dying quicker in battle.
Reinhardt Wilhelm from Overwatch
Crusader online! Massive bulking armor with a giant rocket hammer? That is how Reinhardt from Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch keeps himself protected. When Reinhardt was not part of Overwatch (recalled in the present or disbanded in the past), he was part of a military order of modern knights, fighting hand in hand with the German army in the Omnic Crisis. With the ability to project shields, boost themselves across a battlefield with the projection system in the armor, and the extra awesome rocket hammer, the Crusaders during their time were a force to be reckoned with.
Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones
Where do we even start? Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones, portrayed by the magnificent Gwendoline Christie, is a force to be reckoned with, and I think that is even without her suit of armor that she is known to wear most of, if not all the time. The armor that protects her only adds to the sheer force and tenacity of Brienne, when combined with her loyalty to the one she serves as a knight, she becomes someone that no enemy wants to come up against.
