E3 2017 has come and gone and I, like many other, watched in wonder as the best of the gaming and electronics world brought their creations to the stage for all to see.
As usual, the big names in gaming: Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, and more dropped new games and old favorites, new technology and yes, even more Skyrim. There was plenty to get excited about this year, so I’m bringing you the announcements I am most excited for. Let’s get to gaming!
Kirby For Nintendo Switch
[Clip At Top of Page] Who’s pink, looks like bubble gum, and annoys all of my friends when I pick them in Super Smash Brothers? That’s right- Kirby! Nintendo announced during their E3 presentation that a new Kirby game was coming for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. Fans of Kirby can expect swords, fire, general insanity, and what looks to be awesome multiplayer experiences. I am sure that this is one of those games that will be perfect for gaming on the couch with your best friends!
Skyrim for VR and Nintendo Switch
Fus Ro Duh this will take my money! Although The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been out since 2011, I still find myself completely in love with the game. Sure, there is the fact that I never finished the main quest…and there are glitches…but I enjoy the heck out of this game. Now, thanks to Bethesda and Nintendo, I’ll have two new ways to enjoy it: VR and on the Nintendo Switch. Each brings its own set of reasons why I would want to play it, such as being fully immersed in the world through VR or being able to play in a Link outfit on the Switch. You can watch the trailers for the VR Release and Nintendo Switch release today!
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds
After watching my wife playing endless hours of Horizon Zero Dawn, getting through every inch of the map and all of the quests, I am so excited for the game’s downloadable content, The Frozen Wilds. Just give me more giant mechanical beasts to ride, hunt, and hack. The story that the team behind Horizon Zero Dawn put in the main story, as well as the side quests, has been one of the best of this year. I can only hope that the same crafting and care went into The Frozen Wilds. From the look of their announcement trailer, I have a feeling that is definitely the case.
Skull & Bones
Everyone loves pirates! The high sea, the salt in the breeze, treasure, amazing shanties, and the occasional sword fight- those are what people crave in pirates! It seems like now that is realized in the upcoming Skull & Bones. While watching the trailer for the game, it felt like the first time I took to sea in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and I loved the sea battles and travel in that game. I only hope I can expect the same caliber if not a higher caliber out of this game. It does look like it could be as good as a chest of pirate booty!
Assassin’s Creed: Origins
More Assassin’s Creed? Yes, please. Even with the hiccups here and there in the franchise, I am more than excited for a new installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. As you might be able to tell from my mentioning Black Flag when speaking about Skull & Bones, I’ve been through the different iterations of the game and cannot wait for this new experience. This time, the game is set in Ancient Egypt, setting up the Assassin’s Brotherhood. You bet I’m in for that! I will be thoroughly disappointed if I am unable to leap of faith off a giant pyramid or the Sphinx. Okay, only slightly disappointed. Nevertheless, I’m excited for what Ubisoft has in store for fans of the franchise.
Kingdom Hearts 3
I couldn’t possibly do an E3 piece without at least mentioning the one game that is mentioned all the time but still has not released yet: Kingdom Hearts 3. Interestingly enough, the game released new footage not at E3 itself, but at the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra during the week of E3! As a fan of the game series, I’ll take what I can get (and hope for more, maybe even the game, before I turn 30…)
