Personally, I love making stuff that touches on the games and geekery that makes its way into not just my day-to-day life but my heart! With that in mind, I found five awesome DIY projects that, with a little work, can show off your love for The Legend of Zelda in a variety of ways. Come check these out!
Keep in mind, you should always make sure you’re incredibly safe when handling anything like hot glue guns, typical hardware tools, sewing machines, ovens and batteries. These are good to do with your kids and friends and will turn any boring weekend into something that will leave you with some awesome keepsakes!
1. Pins and Things’ DIY Legend of Zelda Fairy-in-a-Bottle!
If you’re curious on how to possibly making an easier option for replacing batteries, make a few extra stacks of the batteries and have them on hand for an easy switch in/out when you want to show off that fairy-bottle. A few piecees of white velcro, trimmed to fit, will make it easier to take the foam apart to release the batteries as well!
2. Create Geek’s DIY Sheikah Slate Fake Stained Glass!
If you’re concerned about leaving these open, pressing them into a fitting frame and using a hot glue gun or a few dots of super glue to dot them onto the glass. Just keep the cardboard backing off, add two eye-hooks to the top of the frame and hang with string! That way you can show your awesome stained-glass effect without damaging your sculpey plus have an easy way to show it off no matter where in your house!
3. Create Geek’s Sew-Easy Nintendo Switch Dock Cover!
Another from the awesome folks at Create Geek! This one isn’t technically Legend of Zelda ONLY but since you’re playing a lot of Breath of the Wild and that Nintendo Switch is going to need protecting, why not stitch yourself up an awesome protective cover for your dock? If you’re super concerned about the sewing, a strong fabric hot glue stick will handle it rather easily so long as you keep your lines light. Let it cool completely before folding it over and clean up any hems you may have left behind. The point is to look nice and protect the Switch, no need to fuss over a sewing machine if you don’t have the skill set!
4. Game Guy DIY’s Lon Lon Milk Candles!
If you’re worried about the process of melting wax and don’t quite trust it but would like the same effect, you can just as easily buy some simple white jar candles with lids from your local Walmart, Target or even Dollar store, carefully remove the label and add your own label to it. Then it’s as easy as printing, taping down and enjoying! While it’s not as big of a project, you still get your Lon Lon candles whenever you like!
5. GandaKris‘ Rupee Necklace Charms!
If you want to make sure your Rupee charms REALLY stand out, once their colors are dried and you’re happy with them, give them a nice healthy acrylic gloss coat. I personally enjoy the Golden polymer gloss when I’m painting figures and clay jewelry. Make sure you give it a good amount of time to dry and you’ll be glittering happy gems everywhere you go! Oooh, also? These make great little charms for more than necklaces! Make a few and add magnets to the back or even add them to key-rings as gifts for your Zelda loving friends!
