There is nothing quite like sitting with your friends and getting into some happy shenanigans. Everyone always thinks their pals are the funniest people ever and Jackbox Games loves showing you how very right or wrong you are about that.
Welcome, my people, to Jackbox Party Pack 4. I got my hands on the pack early, so let’s break down some of its newly debuting games!
In Monster Seeking Monster, you and your friends play a spooky little dating game trying to pair up disguised monsters with other disguised monsters. In the beginning, only you actually know the trouble you’re going to get into. These little monsters have qualifiers that can determine what kind of people you pair up with. Your job, knowing your secret monster powers, is to try to find love despite your troubles! For example: The ‘Two-Faced Creep‘ may look devilishly handsome, but he gains hearts for all the people he rejects. During the ‘dating phase‘, you set out to text your fellow people/monsters to try and gain influence over ones who may date you and help you gain more hearts. The person at the end of the game with the most hearts — wins. Careful though, there are monsters out there just hoping to come steal those hearts from you!
With Bracketeering, it’s meant for those bigger parties of people – be it online or offline – that can’t find a game to play but still want to keep the party going! At first, you and up to fifteen other players will provide a silly answer to a silly question. Your answer will then go into the bracket but, the twist is, the actual question or opening to your answer will change. Based on how it fits with your answer, you and your party will anonymously vote on what fits the best and is funniest. Going through a bracket style system, players will vote to see which answer wins all. With the heats building up and changing, opening questions change and things get intense! Who of your friends can bring that championship home!?
Have you ever wished you could write all those obnoxious headlines in trending articles? Ever wished your comment was first because you thought it was oh-so-clever? Jackbox wants to make you feel that but also remind you how silly a goal that is with Survive the Internet. First, you provide you and your friends commentary for what will go with headlines. Those get mixed up and then you randomly get someone else’s comment. Based on that comment, provide the funniest headline to make them work and watch the likes pour in!
Civic Doodle may be my favorite one so far of JBPP4, which Monster Seeking Monster running a close second. In Civic Doodle, one of the artsy Jackbox Games that show up in every Party Pack, you’re helping the Mayor of Doodle Valley provide art to the town. Not so fast though, because you and one other player will draw off of a pre-existing line or squiggle and other players vote on which one looks best. Then, the next players come in and they add onto it. This continues through all players until the winner is found! After a couple rounds of this, the actual artist is hired to draw portraits! Everyone starts off drawing with players voting on ALL artwork to find the best until only one picture remains! Every time I played this, I nearly giggled until I cried until drawing began again. After that? The pure concentration begins. Heck, drawing and getting some art done with only a mouse or a phone is difficult but it’s pretty dang fun.
You can find The Jackbox Party Pack 4 dropping this week across all platforms available and you want to get in on it. Don’t sleep on that music either, the final round music for Monster Seeking Monster will have you boppin’ for hours! Expect a lot of monsters begging for double dates just to get their hands on this one!
