Who wants to talk to their family when INSTEAD you could break their spirit under the guise of casual gameplay? A great time for all! I’ve compiled a list of my favorite family games and ordered them from least to most soul-crushing.
5) Just Dance
Just Dance had to be first on this list. It’s a motion-based dancing game for 1 – 4 players which means you look VERY dumb while playing it. And BOY is it fun to watch.
4) Overcooked
Overcooked is a delightful 1 – 4 player cooking sim game where each player controls a chef as you try to work together to complete orders in a time limit. Each level has a unique obstacle like rats stealing your food or actual GHOSTS. And you can straight-up body-slam other players out of the way. Which is so fun.
3) Snipperclips
Snipperclips is a really unique puzzle game where players use snipping mechanics to cooperate and solve shape/physics-based puzzles. It’s incredibly fun… as long as you keep working together.
2) Mario Kart
Mario Kart is a racing game first released in 1992… you know what Mario Kart is. It’s available on the Switch with up to four-player local co-op. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to destroy their loved ones with turtle shells of various colors.
1) Mario Party
Now, this is a game for people who want to truly break the spirit of their family members. Mario Party is a party game where up to four players compete in mini-games and collect Stars/Coins. The great thing about Mario Party is ANYONE can win at ANY point. You can be strategic and win every mini-game AND STILL get wrecked in the end.
It’s the perfect family game. Get ready to scream.
