There are so many passionate independent developers across the world that have a story to tell or a challenge to offer, and they should be recognized for their hard work and passion.
In recent years, more and more Indie games have been given their chance to shine. In light of the recent Gamescom and Nintendo’s Summer “Nindies” Showcase video, here are some upcoming Indie games to look forward to:
Ooblits
Ooblets is a farming / creature collection game by Rebecca Cordingley and Ben (perplamps), funded by Double Fine. We get some strong Pokemon vibes from this game (which is part of the reason why we love it). Basically, you farm your Ooblets and train them to be strong and fighter against other Ooblets! There’s also lots of customizable features: you can change your character’s hair, clothes, house, etc. to just the way you like it. Also just look at the aesthetic! We need this game when it comes out this year for PC and Xbox One.
Mineko’s Night Market
In Mineko’s Night Market (developed by Meowza Games), it’s all about the kitties! You can craft cool items to sell at your stall in the night market using things you collect from around the land. Of course, you can spend your money to buy other cool collectibles from other stalls. On top of all that there seems to be a mystery surrounding Abe, who is a legendary giant cat. We cannot wait to play and unravel the mystery of Abe when the game comes to PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Tunic
If you love The Legend of Zelda like us, then this game is totally up your alley. Tunic (developed by Finji) captures the charming top-down view dungeon crawler vibe that Zelda did in games like A Link to the Past and Minish Cap. In this game, you actually play as a cute little (so far unnamed) fox adventurer. Outside the cutie-pants fox, the world design is absolutely phenomenal. Of course, you’re going to encounter many enemies on your adventure, but they’re no match for Cutie McCuterson and his sword. Did we mention the fox is heckin’ cute? Tunic is coming to Steam and Xbox One this year! Who’s in?
Untitled Goose Game
Okay, seriously. Do we even need to justify buying this game? In Untitled Goose Game (developed by House House), you play as a jerk goose and ruin everyone’s lives. Goals, honestly. Move over, Goat Simulator, this is the farm animal simulator everyone needed. I honestly cannot wait to honk at people when I have a bad day. Untitled Goose Simulator comes to PC and Nintendo Switch next year.
