Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee come out tomorrow and many Pokemon fans are raring to jump back in to the next adventure in the Kanto region. Though the game only features the original 151 Pokemon and their Alolan forms, there is one exception to this rule: the Mythical Pokemon, Meltan.
Who is Meltan?
Meltan is our first look into the next generation of Pokemon. Having been revealed a couple of months ago, Meltan took the fandom by surprise when they first saw this little guy waddling around in the record-breaking mobile game, Pokemon Go! This Mythical Pokemon is dubbed as the Hex Nut Pokemon, and is a Steel-type. Meltan is made of liquid metal, and uses its body to absorb metals to grow. It uses the metal it absorbs to generate electricity, which allows it to use a powerful attack that shoots from its eye.
Meltan isn’t the only new Pokemon that we were introduced to, though! It was recently revealed that Meltan can evolve in to Melmetal, retaining its Steel typing. It’s said that this Pokemon was worshiped thousands of years ago due to its power to create metal.
Obtaining Meltan
In order to Obtain Meltan, you will need both a smart phone that is eligible to run Pokemon Go, as well as a Nintendo Switch and a Copy of Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu or Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee. The first thing you need to do is transfer any Pokemon from your (or a friend’s) Pokemon Go account to Let’s Go. Doing this will give you a Mystery Box item in Pokemon Go. This box is your Meltan shrine, so make sure you’re stocked up and got your Starpiece and Lucky Egg activated!
Once opened, Meltan will appear everywhere, but only for a limited time. Catch as many as you can- you’ll need lots of candies to evolve Meltan into Melmetal. After you’re done, voila! You have your very own Meltan that you can send into Pokemon: Let’s Go! Keep in mind that you’ll only be able to evolve Meltan into Melmetal in Pokemon Go at this time, so make sure you do that before sending your best Meltan to Let’s Go!
