The fall anime season draws near bringing with it anticipated sequels and brand new shows. One of these is Black Clover, an action fantasy title that I’ve seen high atop the shelves at Barnes and Noble but seems always out of my reach.
In a world where everyone has the ability to wield magic, Asta and Yuno are two orphans who want to become the Wizard King. Yuno is extremely adept and shows great promise. However, in a strange turn of events, it appears Asta was born without any magical powers! When the boys turn 15 they are gifted grimoires which will amplify their abilities. Asta’s grimoire grants him the gift of Anti-Magic and the power to negate and repel the skills of his opponents.
Black Clover hits the TV Tokyo airwaves on October 3rd and has thankfully been picked up by Crunchyroll for streaming here in North America. And we shouldn’t have to wait too long for those shiny blu ray box sets as the series has already been licensed by Funimation. If you can’t wait to dive into this fun new magical world Viz has the first eight volumes of manga ready for you to snap up.
