In February, there are great titles available to stream – some of which sync great with the franchises we are spotlighting this month! It’s our latest roundup to compliment your loot when it arrives. Get ready to guard your turf with PROTECT, and check out these recommendations!:
The Expanse: Amazon Prime (Season 1)
We know, a lot of our Looters might not be as familiar with The Expanse as they are with many franchises we usually include in our crates. This is not an acccident! – it is always our goal to celebrate the greatest of genre franchises at all times, and we have to say that this Syfy series is an underrated gem worth exploring. Are you a fan of the compelling socio-political intrigue of shows like Battlestar Galactica? Then The Expanse is SO up your alley, you need to watch it ASAP! The first season is available now on Amazon Prime.
Pacific Rim: Rentable on Amazon… and also…
Okay, this was tough to realize: Right now, Pacific Rim is not available to stream for free on any of the major platforms. Noooo! How do you expect us to cancel the Apocalypse?! If you really want to get super hyped for Pacific Rim Uprising and don’t already have the DVD/BluRay, you can rent Pacific Rim via Amazon Prime and other VOD platforms. Or, low-rent option: Putting Ramin Djawadi’s incredible score on your Spotify speed-dial is a guaranteed ticket to get it DONE when you need to! (I literally listen to this every time I need to get work done FAST. Epic. – Ed.)
Wonder Woman: HBO Now
Yassss, HBO, way to deliver!: Just in time for our Protect theme, which features Diana of Themiscyra in our DX and Wear lines, Wonder Woman just debuted on HBO Now (and also HBO Go) this month. We’re going to guess that most of you may have gotten this epic comic book masterpiece as a Christmas present, but just in case you didn’t, it’s here for you to watch 1,000 times or more. And we know you’re watching that No Man’s Land scene on repeat. Don’t play!
Black Panther: Amazon Prime (as part of the Avengers animated series)
So, to be fair, this one’s a bit of a puzzler. With the incredible hype that has been building up around Black Panther in the lead-up to his big screen debut, did no one think it was a good idea to make sure his other appearances in Marvel content were readily available? Apparently not. Hmph. Still, if you want to check out some AMAZING animated T’Challa this month, we wholeheartedly endorse renting The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes from Amazon Prime, in which he has some choice plotlines. (And really the whole series is so good. SO. GOOD.)
The Princess Bride: Amazon Prime
Dang it, streaming services, do we have to pay for EVERYTHING THIS MONTH? Ah well… while, again, we’re guessing that the die-hards among you probably own this one anyway, we encourage you to rent The Princess Bride from Amazon Prime this month if you haven’t experienced this seminal fantasy entry of the 1980s. (And if you haven’t, please come out from under that rock you’ve been living under. Have some snacks, here’s a pillow!…) If anything, it’ll be a great warm-up for the sure-to-be-EPIC documentary on Andre the Giant that HBO is releasing this April. (Seriously. WE. CANNOT. WAIT.)
How to Train Your Dragon: Multiple shows and films streaming this month!
Okay, now we’re cooking with gas! If you are absolutely, positively in love with Toothless the dragon (as you should be! – we sure are) you have lots of options to stream this month. Netflix has several of Dreamworks’ animated companion series to the films, including How to Train Your Dragon: Legends, Dragons: Race to the Edge, and Dawn of the Dragon Racers. Meanwhile, if you have HBO now, the original How to Train Your Dragon is there for O.G. goodness to enjoy!
Venture Bros.: Hulu (Seasons 1-6)
Well, DANG, you hit the mother lode on this one folks. Provided you have Hulu, that is, but if you do, all six seasons of Venture Brothers are available for your enjoyment! Queue up every single one of those quotes, folks! “Drogo! Khal Drogo! You were supposed to be my Khaleesi!”… “Release the butterflies!”… “Enter ingenuity, Deano! You gotta try this. It feels too good! It feels like somebody with a fever is yelling at my pants!” We could literally go on forever, but this isn’t a Venture Bros. blog (though we’re considering that for the future… hmmm….)
