There’s no doubt that last year’s big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s IT was both a sleeper hit and a remarkably well-made adaptation of the early years of this much-larger story. (You’re all counting the days till IT: Chapter 2, too, aren’t you?) Still, for some horror fans who grew up in the 90’s, ABC Television’s miniseries adaptation is near and dear to our hearts…
It had a great cast – led by the incomparable Tim Curry in full ham-sandwich and sheer terror mode as Pennywise the Clown – and though it skirted around some of the stranger elements of the book, it was pretty solid. (The four-hour run time helped.) Some of the effects do look pretty dated now, but as you’ll see in this fun video from Looper, there are some great moments and plot devices in this version that are incredibly spooky and definitely hold up almost 30 years later.
