What’s a better way to enjoy Valentine’s Day than a mini-movie marathon? How about a “geeky” movie marathon? Here are five films to satisfy your nerdy romance fix.
1. Deadpool
One could argue that Deadpool is actually a romantic comedy. Some of the funniest moments the film are between Wade and Vanessa. They even ran a campaign with very satirical romantic comedy posters. But overall, the film itself goes from girl meets girl, girl loses girl, boy tries to get girl back. You know the deal.
2. Shaun of the Dead
This is an absolute classic! Being in zombie apocalypse while worrying about getting back with your ex is an entirely relatable circumstance. This is a great Valentine’s movie since it touches on a man’s struggle between growing up, but also his girlfriend accepting him and his best friend. Oh, and dogs can look up.
3. Howl’s Moving Castle
There are so many romance animes out there that can feel over the top, but this has a little bit everything. Fantasy, adventure, drama, and romance of course. Again, the typically down to earth girl and arrogant guy are thrown into the crazy world animated world of Hayao Miyazaki.
4. Wall-E
Now, Pixar knows how to pull your heartstrings. But who would’ve thought they could make you get all the feels for a little trash compacting robot? It also features one of the best romantic scenes in film history!
5. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
What would a geeky romance movie list be without Scott Pilgrim? Edgar Wright nails this one. The film is almost more of a break-up movie since it deals with so many exes, but then has the ultimate “make-up” in its finale. The soundtrack is off the chain too!
