Fate tests us all, but when push comes to shove and the world seems to be in disorder,
do you keep with the status quo, or go rogue and revolt?
That was the question we asked in last month’s video for December’s theme — “Revolution“. The aforementioned short presented the dichotomy of a totalitarian uprising and a rebellion group rising up to fight against it. As the Social Producer for Loot Crate Studios and the writer of said video, I’m here to give you a look behind the scenes of the crazy fun process of putting one of these things together.
Revolution was directed by Loot Crate Studios’ Senior Producer Jamie Parslow and was shot by our frequent Director of Photography Pierce Cook (the one with the awesome dance moves).
We shot the short back in November of last year at Lacy Street studios. It’s a phenomenal space that has been used for an array of different films and music videos, most recently the latest Sia video. They even showed us the room where they shot Saw on our location scout and I have to admit it was equal parts rad and terrifying. (Luckily no one had to cut off any appendages).
It was a two day shoot with multiple locations and a call for extras — definitely one of the bigger projects we did last year. But we were lucky to have a bunch of awesome Looters come out and help us fill office chairs and form a fake crowd for our politician.
When it came to casting for this piece, we really hit the jackpot. We were honored to work with none other than the Candy Man himself, horror legend Tony Todd, and Steve Tom of Funny or Die Presents… fame. Additionally, if you play close attention — you can also spot cameos from our friends Nick Acott and Gary Scullion of Sneaky Zebra, voice actress Brittani Johnson, and Jake Lewis of The Lewis Brothers.
Not only is our team incredibly hardworking, but we have a blast on set — as you can tell from the video. We hope you enjoyed our Revolution short and appreciated getting a look behind the curtain. Stay tuned for our next theme video coming your way at the end of this month!
