Happy Easter! In honor of the holiday, we’re going to look at some of my all-time favorite video game easter eggs, plus one hidden gem that wasn’t ever supposed to be found. ?
Disco Party
Crysis 2 isn’t the game that first comes to mind when thinking funny, but it does have one of my favorite easter eggs EVER. In a hallway of an abandoned hotel floor, there is an elevator. If you activate this elevator, it will open to an intimate disco party. Just two dudes rocking out in an elevator. Nothing wrong with that.
Unused Mortal Kombat Bios
Does it count as an easter egg if it wasn’t meant to be found? I’m not sure, but this one is too funny to not include. In Mortal Kombat 4, you can reactivate unused character biography screens with joke commentary about each character. My favorite is blaming Sub-Zero’s evil nature on the stock market crash of the late-70’s.
Fallout Naming
If you’ve played Fallout 4, you’ll remember that lil robot guy Codsworth. Codsworth is able to say a TON of names… and some extra words. My favorites include – Asdf, Bad*ss, Humongous, Danger, Erectus, Boobie, and Ham. He can also say a bunch of pop culture names, like Picard and Furiosa, and some words worse than Boobie that I can’t list.
Pac-Man in Skyrim
Ready for a wholesome easter egg? This one can be found in Endon’s house in Markarth. A cheese wheel, a slaughterfish egg, garlic, and a bowl of glowdust are used to form a lil Pac-Man scene! Nothing sassy or mean about this one. Just straight cute.
No Easter Eggs in GTA: San Andreas
Remember Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Well, if you get all the way to the top of that bridge that connects San Fierro and Las Venturas, you’ll find this sign saying, “There are no Easter Eggs up here. Go away.” Classic GTA.
