We’ve already talked about how great RUINER is, but now that the game is out and getting some love, we wanted to dive in deeper! Devolver Digital (Thanks, Thomas!) hooked it up with some quick tips to help us gamers (but mostly me, because I need that help) grind through this cyberpunk realness. Check these gifs AND tips out!
While RUINER has a lot going for it visually and through one of the coolest soundtracks you’ve heard this year, the real meat lies in the devilish design. There are tips to each and every single maneuver and think you come across and you’d be foolish not to learn them closely. Here are, not only details about key moves and points in RUINER but also some delicious gifs to give you a good reference for what you best be doing.
Energy Shield
This portable shield surrounds you with protection from incoming attacks. Once upgraded, the energy shield can reflect bullets and projectiles back at enemies.
Kinetic Barrier
Unlike the energy shield, the kinetic barrier is stationary. It provides cover from incoming fire and any enemies that come in contact with the barrier freeze up, and slow down all of their attacks.
Ghost Break
When feeling particularly outnumbered, consider turning to Ghost Break. The ability hacks into the brain of a nearby enemy and forces them to fight along side you.
Supply Drop
If you’ve parted ways with a weapon before you’re truly ready to move on, call in a Supply Drop. This lifeline can spawn in any weapon which was previously used for an encore in combat.
Shock Launcher
The Shock launcher is a great way to buy a little extra time to think. Its launches create a small electric surge, stunning nearby enemies and allowing them to be finished off with a melee or ranged attack.
Frag Thrower
When a battle calls for thoroughness, bring out the Frag Thrower. Each use creates a small explosion surrounds you, dealing damage to any enemies within the blast radius. It’s great for dealing with melee enemies that try to gang up on you.
Dash
Sometimes the best skills are the simplest once, and dash is just that. Use it to avoid attacks, save yourself from certain death, or surprise your foes with an aggressive charge attack.
Power Attack
A charged melee attack that deals massive damage. It can be used with both one handed and two handed melee weapons.
