{WARNING SPOILERS}
Valentine’s Day is a week away and love is in the air!!!
I’m pumped because this week we get to talk about anime and romance, and what is better than that (besides chocolate)? Thinking of our favorite shows in anime, we often develop a liking towards pairings of characters, shipping them or wishing they would become a couple (MakaSoul). Anyways, here are our top 10 anime couples to fill your heart <3.
Sailor NeptuneSailor Uranus (Sailor Moon)
Although not the only LGBTQIA couple to appear on Sailor Moon, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus, AKA Michiru and Haruka, are the best known. The pair weren’t introduced to the series until Season 3, known as Sailor Moon S, but they were immediate fan favorites. This is the ultimate girl-power, love duo!
Mei Tachibana Yamato Kurosawa (Suki-tte ii na yo: Say I Love You)
UGH if you haven’t seen this one yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it! This show starts with the main character, Mei, playing hard to get because of the betrayal she felt from her former classmates. After some time, she lets herself fall for Yamato and the story is absolutely adorable. One of my personal favs on the list because the story doesn’t just end after the first kiss.
Taiga Aisaka Ryuuji Takasu (Toradora)
I saw this years ago, but it was the first anime to pop in my mind when I started to write this blog. If you have only seen the first few episodes of this show, you might never know that these two turn into a couple because they simply hate one another in the beginning. With Taiga’s snappy attitude and Ryuuji’s loving nature, this show continuously has you saying, “Come on already!”
Sawako Kuronuma Shouta Kazehaya (Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me to You)
Similar to Say I Love You, this highschool romance/drama will keep you wanting more. Shouta is the popular kid at school loved by everyone. Meanwhile, less popular Sawako is feared and misunderstood because of her resemblance to the character in The Ring. They eventually fall for one another and the story is one you won’t forget.
Akihiko UsamiMisaki Takahashi (Junjou Romantica)
If you are into Yaoi anime, then look no further because Junjou Romantica is the show for you! Childish, possessive, and at times, downright pervy, Akihiko is the ultimate boy-love protagonist. Whereas, Misaki is shy, easily embarrassed, and always avoiding any confrontation. The show starts heavy and doesn’t ever seem to lighten up. You know what they say, opposites attract.
Inuyasha Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha)
Come for the action, but stay for the romance! If you’ve read any of my blogs, you know that I am a huge Inuyasha fan. Worlds apart but destined to be lovers, Inuyasha and Kagome find themselves going back and forth between feudal Japan and modern-day Tokyo. Even though the show is more action than romance, these two will have you binging this series day and night.
Tohru Honda Kyo Sohma (Fruits Basket)
WHY MUST THEY TEASE US… ok… we all know about the crazy love triangle that is Fruits Basket. We also all know that this series is being remade to tell the WHOLE story. Whether you are #teammouse or #teamcat, it doesn’t matter. Except, it kind of does. Why wouldn’t you want Tohru to be with Kyo???
Ken Kaneki Touka Kirishima (Tokyo Ghoul)
Oh, how I love Tokyo Ghoul… yes I am allowed my own opinion, for you people who complain about how much it sucked. It has been a long and bloody road for these two. This couple has beat every odd and you find yourself constantly cheering them on throughout the series, even when “Haise Sasaki” makes his appearance and he forgets Touka altogether.
Katsuki Yuri Victor Nikiforov (Yuri!!! On Ice)
It claims to be a “Japanese sports anime about figure skating,” but we all know what it’s really about. Nah I’m just kidding, it really is about ice skating, but at the same time, it portrays a type of love that surpasses almost all the names on this list. Yuri and Victor even “get married” (kinda) at one point. Anyway, once I started this show, I couldn’t stop and it wasn’t just because of the amazing ice skating scenes.
Naruto Uzumaki Ramen (Naruto)
We all know the strongest love on this list is the love between Naruto Uzumaki and Ramen, preferably Ichiraku. We watch Naruto fall in love with many human characters in this series, but that love never surpasses his need for ramen. Don’t watch this show if you are interested in the love scenes, watch it because it’s Naruto and it’s AWESOME.
Ok everyone, whether you’re in a relationship or single or obsessed with a 2d character, it doesn’t matter. Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you all have a great rest of the week.
From all of us here at Loot Crate,
Happy Valentine’s Day!
