Death Note: Light Yagami becomes a Shinigami
Death Note fell off the radar again after its moderately successful Netflix adaptation. Still, the series is gaining a bit of groundswell as of recent due to a hilarious reference. In the Death Note OVA titled Death Note Relight 1, there’s an unnamed Shinigami that shows up. It’s the one Ryuk tells his story to, and the one he talks back and forth with throughout the OVA.His way of speaking is similar, his clothes are similar, and Ryuk even talks to him in the same way. All of this puts forward the idea that Light may have just reincarnated as a Shinigami after the end of the series. But, sadly, this OVA in non-canon, so even if it was true, it wouldn’t be connected to the source material.

Attack On Titan: Attack on Titan is actually set in the future
Attack On Titan appears to use a mix of technology from different eras. The flying rigs and gear used by the military appear to be advanced technology, but they use cannons to defend the city against the titans. Most of the city appears to use roughly 17/18th Century technology. In the TV series we’re only told that the Titans appeared 100 years earlier, and wiped out most of humanity. The Titans themselves appear to be the product of some kind of advanced technology too. From this it could be inferred that the series is set in our distant future, but there’s nothing to show this for certain. It could be an alternate history story.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Rei Ayanami is omnipresent
In Episode 1, Shinji sees a “vision” of Rei standing in the road wearing her school uniform soon after he is introduced, right before Misato arrives in her car to pick him up. Obviously this couldn’t have been the “real” Rei simply physically traveling from Shinji’s position to Tokyo-3, as Rei has been seriously injured and is at Nerv HQ (wearing her plug suit) under constant medical surveillance. This shot effectively forms half of two “bookends” for the series: when Shinji comes to Tokyo-3 here he sees a vision of Rei wearing her school uniform, and in the penultimate scene of the end of Evangelion, Shinji sees a vision of Rei wearing her school uniform standing over the Sea of LCL after Instrumentality’s rejected (and after Lilith has physically died) which then vanishes. What “really happened” in this appearance of Rei?

Your Name: Body-swap/time-travel runs in Mitsuha’s family
I’ve spent hours cycling through the questions people have posted about this movie, and yes indeed, there is PLENTY of crazy shit to explain (which I’ll do) in this movie. But before I get into explaining the plot of Your Name, let’s remember that opening quote from Mitsuha and Taki and what it represents. Because understanding the movie’s intentions will help shape how we make sense of its complicated parts.

My Hero Academia: All Might Is Deku’s Real Dad
This next one shouldn’t really even work as a legitimate theory. My Hero Academia has its fair share of theories, who One for All really is, who the traitor is, and of course who Deku’s non-existant father is. Author Kohei Koshikori has already stated that Midoriya’s father will play a part in the story at some point and that his Quirk is fire-breathing.So, why do people keep thinking All Might is his actual real father? Yes, the #1 Hero is a better parental figure than Izuku’s non-existant papa, but that doesn’t change facts! Look it up, people really have been grasping at straws to make this one a reality.
Pokemon: Ash Has Been In A Coma The Entire Series
To be fair, we love this one. The theory that 10-year old Ash Ketchum has actually been in a coma since the first episode is something you’d read as creepypasta on a forum or something. And, because it’s so vague, you can tie tons of aspects of the series into it. Until last year, it would explain why he never ages or comes close to the Pokemon League. The theory states that Ash was actually knocked into a coma by the electricity from Pikachu and attacks from Spearows during the storm in the first episode. Funny, yes, but there is a decent amount of people that actually believe it.

Black Clover: Yami Is An Isekai’d Hero
Black Clover is quite the fun read. We weren’t too into it at first, seeing it as mostly a Fairy Tail V.2 sort of story. Yet, one of the main reasons we eventually grew to love it is because of interesting characters like the Black Bulls captain Yami Sukehiro, who is absolutely the strongest of the crew. The wiki and manga say that he is from a place called Hino Country, but fans think elsewhere. The Isekai genre has been insanely popular in the last couple of years and now weebs are starting to claim that it’s infecting other genres. Basically, the theory is that Yami is a Japanese kid who was transported or isekai’d to another world when he was young. And, while that would be incredibly interesting, it’s overall pretty ridiculous.
Well that was absolutely insane. I have heard of the Light Yagami and the Attack On Titan theories before but some of these are past me. Wouldn’t it be so creepy if Ash really was in a coma all this time? Anyways, as always, thanks for reading our blogs and be sure to click on my face below for more anime related content to fill your heart!
