Ed Begley Jr. hosts this episode of American History Mysteries where, in 1942, the American Government
– in anticipation of the “International Threat” – spent $1 trillion dollars on the largest and most expensive robot in history.
Tune in as we unveil this lost footage for the very first time.
As we approach the end of the theme month, let’s take a look behind the scenes of Loot Crate Studios’ theme video for BUILD — a black & white parody piece chronicling the concocted story of the U.S. military’s creation of a giant robot. It was a two day shoot filled with lots of laughs, costume changes, and running around in the rain!
We shot this video at our favorite old haunt, Lacy Street Studios. We had 10 extras come out on the day dressed to the nines in their best World War II era attire. As you can tell from the above behind the scenes video, we got to work with some incredible talent on this one — including the above pictured Brent Weinbach (I Don’t Dance, Mind Jack), Richard Riehle (Office Space, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), and Ed Begley Jr. (This Is Spinal Tap, Ghostbusters (2016)).
Day Two was very robot-centric. We filmed a series of shots of our giant robot destroying the city below. With the help of a green screen and some cleverly forced perspective, the final robot looks a lot taller than 7 feet!
